RankTravellerDistance loggedProfile

Member-reported flight logs, not independently verified records. Distances are great-circle, airport to airport. Equal totals share the same rank.

A few things worth knowing.

How are the rankings calculated?

Distance adds up flights with the great-circle distance, airport to airport (real flown tracks are longer). Flights are individual segments: Venice → Istanbul → Bali is two flights. Airports are distinct departure and arrival airports, connections included. Countries are countries with a destination stop, read the same way as trip pages and profiles: a connection alone isn’t a visit, and the home airport isn’t one.

Which flights count?

Flights dated up to today, between known airports, placed in a period by their flight date: a 2015 flight imported today counts for All time, not this year. Planned flights count once their date has passed; ground transfers aren’t flights. Two records with the same flight number or route on the same day count once until the member marks them “Both are real”; nothing is deleted or merged. “This year” is the calendar year in UTC.

What happens when members are tied?

Equal totals share the same position, shown with “=”. Three members tied for first are joint first, followed by fourth place. Within a tie, members are listed by name; that order isn’t a better place. Switching between kilometres and miles changes the display, never the ranking.

Can I choose whether I appear?

Yes. Nobody appears until they choose to take part, in one of two ways: with their name (name, picture and a link to their profile, only while the profile is public), or anonymously (totals only, shown as “Anonymous traveller”, with no name, picture or link; the profile can stay private). Joining doesn’t publish trips, dates, routes or upcoming flights, and it never changes your profile’s visibility. Leave any time; going private or deleting your account removes you at once. The site’s own demo and test accounts are left out.

The best part isn’t the position.

It’s the places that got you here.
